Kent County Commissioners serve 2-year terms. As a result of new districts, there will now be twenty one Kent County Commissioners.
The County Commissioners approve the annual county budget, propose and vote on proposed county ordinances (laws), and “selecting a County Administrator/Controller to supervise the day-to-day operations of County departments.” The County Commission has influence on a number of departments/services including:
Kent County Health Department – Health Clinics, Mental Health Crisis Center, Animal Shelter
County Parks
Public Works – maintenance of roads
Sheriff’s Office and County Jail
Economic Development
